Lakesh Kumar

Lakesh Kumar secured admission at the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, with an all India rank of 5 in the persons with disabilities category of the CLAT examination. His mother is a home maker and his father is a farmer with an annual income of around INR 50,000. He was a student of Netraheen Vikas Sansthan, Jodhpur, a Hindi-medium institute for the blind.

Lakesh performed extraordinarily well in CLAT while tackling various challenges that came on account of being blind and financially unstable. Some of these challenges include not knowing English very well, and struggling with logical reasoning, as it was mostly taught by writing on the black board. He is an example of the fact that self-study and hard work can really pay off.

Lakesh is interested in science, computers and other technical subjects, and likes to stay updated on new innovations and technological developments. He is also interested in politics and stays abreast of the latest political developments. He sees law as a way to help people, something his other alternative, engineering, he felt, lacked. He also enjoys gaming.
