Susmit Isfaq

Susmit Isfaq is from Guwahati, Assam. The only child to his parents, Isfaq lost his mother around eight years ago, and is supported solely by his father who is a party worker for the Communist Party of India (Marxist). His family survives on his father’s party allowance and mother’s pension. They monthly income was around INR. 10,000.

Despite growing up in precarious circumstances, Isfaq’s resolve to succeed has never been dampened. Isfaq was introduced to IDIA by a student of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, while promoting the ‘Diversity at Home’ project of IDIA. Hardworking and gifted with an extremely bright mind, he trained with IDIA for CLAT 2016, and secured admission at National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam.

Isfaq intends to work hard in pursuing a career in law. He aspires to become a ‘politician with a heart’ and work for marginalised communities in North East India. He has organised various group discussions among students in his college on various social right from his first year!!

Susmit has also been associated with Ellora Vigyan Mancha, a voluntary organisation to encourage people to donate their bodies and eyes after their deaths. He was previously the Deputy Team Leader of the IDIA North-East Chapter at NLUJAA. He has interned with Office of Bhupen Barman, Advocate, Gauhati High Court and Center for Transparency and Accountability in Governance, NLU-Delhi. He has also been the Founding Member of Quiz Society of NLUJAA.
