Shristi Singh

Shristi hails from Ara, a town in Bihar. Her father is a tuition teacher who financially supports a family of four. Her mother is a homemaker. She also has a younger brother. When she was in the 5th standard, Shristi’s father shifted her from the local government school to a DAV school in the hope of giving his daughter a better future. While he had her grandmother’s support, his decision wasn’t encouraged by her relatives who believed that only her brother should be sent to a private school since her father could afford to send only one of his children to a private school. Her father paid no heed to them and stood his ground, borrowing money when the need arose to fund her education.

Shristi proved her father right by performing exceedingly well throughout school and securing several scholarships as she went along. An all-rounder, she was also passionate about basketball and chess, and even represented her district in basketball matches.

According to the IDIA Bihar Team who trained her, Shristi has shown enormous perseverance, dedication and focus. She would travel from very far to prepare for law entrance exams. Shristi believes she can play an impactful role in the development of society. In school, she was interested in history and politics. In law school, she wants to continue to deepen her interest in history and politics, and believes that a law degree coupled with a meaningful understanding of those two subjects will help her attain her goal. She interned with Red Cross, Patna in January 2020. She also joined IDIA Gujarat (Nirma) Chapter as a member. Interestingly, she also became a member of the Nirma University’s Theatre Club.
