Nilabh Singh

Government Law College, Mumbai

Nilabh hails from Muzaffarpur, Bihar. He is a dedicated and hardworking IDIA Scholar. He scored a perfect CGPA of 10 in the 10th standard. His mother was a school teacher but she lost her job during the pandemic. His father is a farmer.

Nilabh became interested in pursuing law after he went to a civil court on a property dispute matter. He realised the importance of legal education and of increasing awareness about legal rights and important laws. Nilabh also has a deep understanding of social prejudices and that has inspired him to study law to empower himself and work for society.

However, Nilabh’s family income was not enough to financially support his legal education. He started searching for scholarships. He come across IDIA when an IDIA Trainee informed him about IDIA and the support provided by us. The IDIA Trainee also told him about studying law, life at NLUs, and the law entrance examinations such as CLAT.

This happy incident led to Nilabh contacting the IDIA Bihar Chapter and getting selected as an IDIA Trainee. IDIA supported Nilabh’s CLAT preparation through providing mocks, training materials, coaching classes, sponsorship for some of the associated expenses, and personalised mentorship, guidance, and training.

His journey during preparation for law examinations was full of difficulties. His family’s financial issues increased during the lockdown. Nevertheless, Nilabh kept working hard to improve his mock test scores. He persevered during the preparation period because of his mother’s constant support and struggle for him. His efforts paid off and he got admission to a law college.

He credits his success to his mother and IDIA (especially, the IDIA Bihar Chapter). He aspires to become a litigator. Nilabh is also interested in playing badminton and cooking.
