Sonal Kumari, an IDIA Scholar from the 2026 batch, is an incoming first-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) student at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU), Lucknow. Born and raised in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, she completed her schooling at VidyaGyan Leadership Academy, Bulandshahr, an initiative of the Shiv Nadar Foundation that played a significant role in shaping her academic journey and leadership skills.
Growing up in a family that valued education despite numerous challenges, Sonal learned the importance of perseverance, hard work, and self-belief from an early age. The constant support and sacrifices of her parents motivated her to dream beyond her circumstances and strive for opportunities that could transform her future.
Sonal chose to pursue law because she believes it is a powerful tool for promoting justice and bringing meaningful change to society. For her, the legal profession is not just a career path but a platform to empower individuals, strengthen institutions, and contribute to a more equitable world. Her journey with IDIA began through the guidance of her school, mentors, and seniors who were already associated with the organization. Their encouragement introduced her to a community that believed in her potential and supported her aspirations. Becoming an IDIA Scholar was a defining moment that reinforced her confidence and highlighted the importance of mentorship and equal access to opportunities.
Looking ahead, Sonal aspires to build a successful career in the corporate legal sector while developing into a skilled and respected legal professional. At the same time, she hopes to contribute to society by promoting legal awareness and making legal knowledge more accessible to those who need it most.
Beyond academics, Sonal enjoys photography and videography, creative pursuits that allow her to express herself and view the world from different perspectives.
