Buddhadeb is a student from a tribal family in the village of Bharat Garh, in the Sunderbans. He is the youngest in a family of three brothers and two sisters. Buddhadeb lost his father at the tender age of 7, when his father was murdered for being an eyewitness in another murder case.
The times that followed his father’s demise were difficult for Buddha’s family. Though his mother started working at a farm to sustain the family, Buddha himself started working as a door-to-door salesperson after he completed his 10th standard. The family of six was sustaining itself on an annual income of about INR 36,000.
During these trying times, Buddha discovered his interest in law and started nurturing a dream of building a better life for his family and himself. He started to dedicate all his time to learning, and his determination earned him a good reputation in his village as it inspired hope among people for a real possibility of change and happiness.
Determined to succeed, Buddha worked hard and secured admission at ICFAI University, Tripura! He actively participates in various activities in college.
Buddha would like to join the civil services post college and has already begun preparing for the same. His internships include those with Centre for Social Justice, Ahmedabad; Advocate Dilip Kumar Roy, Trial Court, Kolkata and Child in Need Institute (CINI), Kolkata.
