Nazrul Islam Molla
Nazrul Islam Molla was a student of Sikkim Government Law College, Gangtok. Nazrul’s excellent academic performance and friendly demeanour quickly earned him admiration from amongst his teachers and peers. He has consistently been amongst the top two ranks in his batch. A reward for his commitment and brilliance in his academic pursuits came in his 2nd year when the Chief Minister of Sikkim awarded Nazrul a laptop as a token of appreciation.
In addition to his academic achievements, Nazrul is also active in sports on campus, especially in football and cricket and captained the college football team. He is also a writer, often penning down short stories and poetry. Nazrul’s involvement with IDIA is not only as a scholar, but also as a member of IDIA’s volunteer team, as a Team Leader of the IDIA North East Sub-Chapter (Sikkim).
However, life has not been easy for this bright scholar from a village in the Sundarbans in West Bengal. His father was a vegetable farmer earning around INR 4,000 per month when Nazrul joined us as a trainee. Nazrul was about to cease his education and join his father in this vocation, before IDIA spotted him and recognized his potential.
In his IDIA interview, Nazrul clearly expressed his ambition to study law and ensure that his community has access to legal remedies. His time as an IDIA scholar has only reassured us of his commitment to this ambition. His skill and tenacity will take him far in life, and we are happy to be a part of his remarkable journey. He graduated in 2017. Presently, he is working with Advocate Kamalesh Taraphdar and practicing at Alipore Police Court.
