Bankim Mondal

Bankim hails from a small village, Satyanarayanpur, in the agricultural heartland of Bengal. When Bankim joined IDIA as a Trainee, his father was a farmer by profession and his mother was a homemaker. They had about 3-4 bighas of ancestral land on which his father farmed. Agriculture was the only source of income for the family. Bankim did his Madhyamik (Class 10) from a local school in his village. He joined Rangabelia High School, Gosaba, in Sunderbans, to pursue his higher secondary education in the field of humanities. His new school was 17 kms from his house.

His parents were not aware of any career options and left it to him to decide what he wanted to do. Bankim’s childhood dream was to pursue an English Honours degree. But in Class 11, he got in touch with members of the IDIA West Bengal Chapter who had come to sensitize students about law in a neighbouring school. Encouraged by his friends, he got in touch with the student volunteers from IDIA, and appeared for the aptitude test, which he did well in. He finally got admitted to Jogesh Chandra Chowdhury Law College, Calcutta University.

Bankim was one of the brightest students in IDIA classes, and we have seen him grow from strength to strength with the amazing amount of hard work he is always ready to put in. He enjoyed college, and knows that he is moving in the right direction. He is working with Advocate Kamalesh Taraphdar and practicing at Alipore Police Court.
