Mahendra Kumar Jyani comes from a small village called Dhora Bass Bajju in the Kolayat district of Bikaner. His father Shreeram Jyani is a teacher who made Rs. 10,000 – 12,000 per month and his mother Sarla Devi is a homemaker.
Mahendra has always had a keen interest in academics. He fared very well in his 10th standard exams with a CGPA of 8/10 and followed it with an even better performance in the 12th with 84.6% marks. When he’s not studying, he likes to play all kinds of sports and he’s particularly fond of football. Eager to start his professional studies, Mahendra shared his thoughts about studying law with a friend. His friend, Anil Bhadu, was already an IDIA trainee back then and is now studying at NLSIU, Bangalore. Anil told Mahendra all about IDIA and how he had trained hard with them to achieve his goal of studying law. Deeply inspired, Mahendra pulled up his socks and got to work. He studied diligently with the guidance of the Rajasthan chapter and scored excellent marks in CLAT 2018, securing himself a seat in NIRMA University’s Institute of Law, Ahmedabad! The team has seen him work tirelessly throughout his training and we’re sure Mahendra will carry on this streak in law school as well! He plans to start an NGO one day and believes that law is the most suitable profession for him to serve the society.
His internships include those with Advocate Avinash Chandra Vyas, District and Session Court, Bikaner, Rajasthan; Center for Child and the Law at NLSIU, Bangalore and Centre for Social Justice, Ahmedabad (January 2019).
