Mahendra Devasi

Mahendra comes from a small village named Pali that is situated in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and is visually impaired. His father is a farmer and mother is a housewife. He has two brothers who also suffer from vision impairment. Despite all the adversities, Mahendra has grown up to be a confident young man.

He gave his twelfth board exams from Netraheen School of Jodhpur with a decent percentage of 69.60%. He is inclined towards writing and reading poems. His senior, also an IDIA scholar, informed him about law as a career option. He got in touch with IDIA after a sensitisation program in his school.

According to him, people with disabilities have the same potential as others. It’s just that most of the time it goes undiscovered. He believes that with the right opportunities and with accessibility, they can work wonders. Hence, he aims to work for people with disabilities. He also wants to solve the legal hurdles faced by them by firstly, knowing his rights, and then, making other people aware of their rights and duties.
