Shani is a young and committed student from Thiruvananthapuram district in Kerala. Her father is an autorickshaw driver and her mother is a homemaker. She has an elder sister who recently completed her graduation from Kerala University. Her family’s monthly income was around Rs. 5000 when she joined IDIA as a Scholar.
Shani passed tenth grade with an A+ for all her subjects. While finishing her high school from H. S. S. for Girls, Venganoor, Shani received the best outgoing student award. She came first in school with a total aggregate of 98.75%. Shani is fond of dancing and likes to cook up delicious meals for her family in her free time.
Shani is a perfect example of how much one can achieve when they have the determination to help their society and their family. When asked about the role IDIA played in helping her she said “I always used to be inside a comfort zone. Stepping out of it happened only because of IDIA’s support. It was challenging for me, but my mentors always stood by me.”
It can be said, without any doubt, that Shani’s brilliance and hard work coupled with the support of her family and mentors has helped her achieve her dreams.
