Swabhiman Jayant Patil

Swabhiman Jayant Patil hails from the small village of Kurdu in the Solapur district of Maharashtra. His family consists of his parents and elder sister, who have always valued the power of education. His father, a farmer, is actively involved in social initiatives and serves as an organizer of Sarpanches in Maharashtra, while his mother is a homemaker. Recognizing the importance of a strong educational foundation, his family relocated to Pune to provide better opportunities for their children. His sister recently graduated with a degree in BSc, further reinforcing the family’s belief in academic achievement.

Swabhiman excelled in his 10th standard board examinations, securing an impressive 90%. His journey toward law began when he attended an IDIA sensitization session at Fergusson College, Pune. The session introduced him to law as a career and the vast possibilities within the legal profession. Inspired by the impact of great lawyers in India, he became determined to pursue law as a means to fight injustice and contribute to society.

His commitment led him to clear the IDIA National Aptitude Test and subsequent interviews, earning him a spot as an IDIA Trainee. Recognizing the opportunity, he gave his best throughout the rigorous training process, approaching every challenge with unwavering dedication. His preparation for the law entrance exams was relentless—reading newspapers daily, solving over 80 mock tests, and consistently refining his skills. As a trainee, he was known for his punctuality, curiosity, and hard work. IDIA provided him with rigorous training, personal mentorship, revision classes, and regular mock test analyses to support his journey.

His perseverance paid off when he secured admission to a top National Law University. At NLSIU, Swabhiman has maintained his strong work ethic, excelling both academically and beyond. He has pursued internships across diverse legal domains, including roles at Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, Khaitan & Co., Talwar Thakore & Associates, and as a Judicial Intern at the Bombay High Court.

Beyond academics, Swabhiman is deeply engaged in campus life. He has been elected as the Class Representative for three consecutive years, demonstrating his leadership and commitment to student welfare. Additionally, he is an active member of the IDIA Karnataka Chapter, contributing to its mission of making legal education more accessible.
