National Law University, Odisha
Abhijit is a resident of Baradola, a village in the Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. He lives with his father and two siblings. He lost his mother when he was 15 years old. His father and one of his siblings work as daily wage labourers. His family has faced many financial difficulties, but Abhijit has worked hard throughout his life to overcome the challenges faced by him.
Abhijit completed his 10th standard from the Cooch Behar Town School with a score of 97% in the board examination. He went on to enroll for senior secondary schooling at the Calcutta Blind School, Kolkata.
Abhijit came across IDIA after a Law for All session which was conducted at his school by IDIA West Bengal Chapter. He didn’t have any idea about studying law and about law as a career before attending this Law for All session. It ignited his passion for pursuing law and his family supported him when they learnt about his interest in law.
He always liked learning about the current trends in technology and he wants to learn more about technology law. He wants to become a skilled lawyer and use his training for working for the rights of people with disabilities.
He put in a lot of hard work for CLAT and consistently attended the online classes and mentorship sessions provided by IDIA as a result of which he got admission into NLU Odisha. Abhijit participated in Mediation competition organised by his university which appealed to his interest and is not learning more about the subject. He has also interned with Centre for Social Justice, and he describes the experience as enriching and one of a kind. We are happy to see the results of his hard work and hope that he keeps reaching new heights.
