Ashutosh, an IDIA Scholar from the 2025 batch, is a first-year student at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow. Born and raised in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, he comes from a hardworking family where his parents jointly run a small general store from their home. Growing up in this environment shaped his values of perseverance and commitment to community, which continues to guide his journey in law school.
His early education in a government school taught him humility and resilience, while his deep love for the Humanities nurtured his curiosity about society, culture, and international relations. This blend of intellectual curiosity and empathy naturally led him toward the field of law; a discipline he believes can create meaningful social transformation when rooted in understanding people and their stories. Since joining RMLNLU, Ashutosh has demonstrated remarkable growth, both personally and professionally. He recently participated in the prestigious Arun Jaitley Memorial National Moot Court Competition, where he and his team broke into the Quarter Finals, an impressive achievement for a first-semester mooter competing at a national level. This experience sharpened his research, advocacy, and teamwork skills and reinforced his passion for legal problem-solving.
In addition to his competitive accomplishments, Ashutosh actively contributes to campus life. He is a member of both the Legal Aid Committee (LAC) and the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Cell of RMLNLU. Through these roles, he is engaging with the real-world dimensions of justice delivery, community outreach, negotiation, and conflict resolution, areas that resonate deeply with his desire to serve society meaningfully.
Outside of academics, he remains driven by his passion for stories that ignite curiosity, particularly spy, action, and thriller films that fuel his fascination with strategy, decisive thinking, and complex human motivations. He thrives on engaging conversations, meeting new people, and exploring diverse perspectives, reflecting his openness and eagerness for growth.
Ashutosh aspires to be a change-maker who uplifts others through mentorship, guidance, and accessible opportunities. Having experienced firsthand the transformative power of support, he hopes to extend the same to young people navigating uncertainty and ambition. With empathy at his core and service as his compass, he strives to contribute to nation-building and inspire those who walk a path similar to his own.
