Esha Sharma

Esha Sharma, born and raised in Punjab, is a first-year law student at the National Law University Odisha (NLUO). Her journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of perseverance in the face of adversity.

At the age of twelve, Esha lost her father during the COVID-19 pandemic, a life-altering tragedy for her family. Following this loss, she, along with her mother, relocated to Rajasthan to live with her maternal grandparents. The move forced her mother to leave her job, and since then, her grandparents have been the primary support system for the family.

Despite these challenges, Esha remained committed to her education and future aspirations. Born with Erb’s palsy, she never allowed her condition to define her abilities or limit her ambitions. Determined to pursue a career in law, Esha began preparing for CLAT through self-study in the middle of Class 11. Relying entirely on online resources and her own discipline, she balanced her school studies with entrance exam preparation. Her hard work paid off when she successfully cleared CLAT while still in Class 12 and secured admission to NLUO through the first counselling list.

Following her success, Esha became associated with IDIA (Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education). Through financial assistance, mentorship, academic guidance, and unwavering encouragement, IDIA played a crucial role in supporting her legal education and helping her pursue her dreams with confidence.

Today, Esha is eager to explore the many dimensions of the legal profession and broaden her understanding of law. She firmly believes that while challenges are an unavoidable part of life, resilience, perseverance, and the courage to keep moving forward are what ultimately lead to success. Her story stands as an inspiration to countless young students who dare to dream despite difficult circumstances.
