Mahendra Devasi

Mahendra hails from Pali, a small village in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and has been visually impaired since birth. His father is a farmer, and his mother is a homemaker. He has two brothers who also have visual impairments.

Despite these challenges, Mahendra has grown into a confident and determined individual. He completed his twelfth board exams from Netraheen School of Jodhpur, securing a respectable 69.60%. Passionate about writing and poetry, he was introduced to law as a career option by a senior who was also an IDIA Scholar.

After attending a Law for all: Program in his school, he connected with IDIA and was selected as a trainee. Through hard work and perseverance, Mahendra successfully cleared his law entrance exams and secured admission to GNLU, Gandhinagar.

He strongly believes that people with disabilities have the same potential as others, but their abilities often remain undiscovered due to a lack of opportunities and accessibility. Determined to change this, he aims to work for the rights of people with disabilities by first understanding the legal framework himself and then spreading awareness about their rights and duties.

As he progresses in his legal journey, Mahendra is preparing for the judiciary while also aspiring to become an in-house counsel or work in a law firm. To achieve this, he is focused on refining his skills in drafting arguments and legal documents. His interests lie in General Corporate Law, Litigation, and Dispute Resolution. With his dedication and passion for advocating for disability rights, Mahendra is well on his way to making a significant impact in the legal field, ensuring that the rights of people with disabilities are recognized and upheld.
