Navya Banoth, an IDIA Scholar from Warangal, Telangana, is currently pursuing her legal education at National Law University, Odisha. Coming from a humble farming family, Navya grew up with limited financial resources and faced several challenges in pursuing higher education. Her determination to become a lawyer remained strong despite the difficulties around her.
Growing up as a girl in a tribal community, Navya also witnessed social expectations that often discouraged girls from pursuing higher education. Many girls around her were expected to marry young, and Navya too faced pressure to abandon her aspirations. However, she remained committed to her goal and continued to believe that education could open doors to a different future.
Navya first learned about IDIA when representatives visited her college and introduced students to the organisation’s work. Inspired by the opportunity, she appeared for the entrance test and interview and was selected as an IDIA Trainee. The mentorship, coaching, and encouragement she received became an important part of her CLAT journey.
Although her first attempt at CLAT was unsuccessful, Navya refused to give up. She enrolled in another preparation programme and continued working towards her goal despite criticism and pressure from those around her. She developed a particular interest in Legal Reasoning and gradually strengthened her understanding and confidence. Her perseverance eventually paid off when she cleared CLAT and secured admission to National Law University, Odisha.
Navya’s interest in law comes from her desire to protect the rights of poor and marginalised communities. She hopes to promote legal awareness among people who are unaware of their rights and make quality legal assistance more accessible. She also dreams of becoming an inspiration for girls from her community and showing them that financial difficulties and social expectations should not determine the limits of their ambitions.
As she begins her legal education at National Law University, Odisha, Navya remains grateful to her mentors and IDIA for believing in her potential. She hopes to use her education to create greater awareness, promote justice, and encourage other young girls to pursue their dreams with confidence and determination.
