Christida Thomas is an advocate from Alappuzha, Kerala, currently practising at the District Courts of Alappuzha under Adv. E. Rafeek at Rafeek Associates. She completed her LL.B. from Government Law College, Kozhikode, after pursuing her schooling at St. Joseph’s H.S., Paravoor and St. Joseph’s G.H.S.S., Alappuzha.
Coming from a coastal village in Alappuzha, she developed an interest in law through her growing awareness of the challenges faced by ordinary people in accessing justice. During law school, she actively participated in internships and social forums that provided grassroots exposure to the functioning of the legal system and the realities faced by vulnerable sections of society. These experiences strengthened her commitment to litigation and reinforced her belief that the law should be a practical tool for ensuring justice and protecting rights.
Since enrolling as an advocate, she has been actively involved in civil, criminal, family, consumer, and banking matters while also undertaking pro bono legal assistance for women facing domestic violence and senior citizens in need of legal support.
Through the IDIA Litigation Fellowship, she hopes to strengthen her advocacy, legal research, drafting, and client counselling skills while contributing to initiatives that improve access to justice and legal awareness at the community level. In the long term, she aspires to build a career centered on meaningful litigation, public service, with the shared goal of ensuring that quality legal assistance reaches those who need it the most.
