Muthasim Shad P.P. , an Advocate practising across Malappuram district, primarily before the civil courts in Tirur, hails from Malappuram, Kerala. Raised in a modest family, his father works in a hotel in Tirur, and his younger sister is pursuing the first year of her undergraduate degree.
Muthasim completed his schooling at J.M. Higher Secondary School, Tirur, and his higher secondary education at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Tirur. From his school days, he aspired to study law, believing it to be a powerful instrument for social change, equal justice, and ensuring legal assistance for those who cannot afford it. He pursued his B.Com LL.B. at the prestigious Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, graduating in 2022. He enrolled as an Advocate in 2023 and has since been practising mainly before the courts in Tirur while also handling matters across Malappuram district.
He learned about the IDIA Fellowship through a friend who had previously been selected as a Fellow. Inspired by IDIA’s commitment to nurturing young lawyers through mentorship, academic guidance, training sessions, and skill-development programmes, he applied for the fellowship. Beyond financial assistance, he believes the fellowship will help him strengthen his legal research, drafting, advocacy, and professional skills while learning from experienced mentors.
Outside the courtroom, Muthasim enjoys reading, writing, and playing football. His ultimate goal is to establish an independent legal practice dedicated to providing quality legal assistance, promoting access to justice, and ensuring that financial constraints never become a barrier to obtaining legal remedies.
