Akshaya V

Akshaya V, a first-year B.A. LL.B. student at the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi, hails from the historic port city of Fort Kochi in Kerala’s Ernakulam district. Raised in a close-knit family, Akshaya’s strength is deeply rooted in her upbringing. Her mother, an accountant at a private firm, has been the pillar of the family, raising Akshaya and her younger sister with quiet resilience after the recent passing of her father, who worked as a driver.

Akshaya completed her schooling at St. Aloysius Convent ISC School, Palluruthy, and her higher secondary education at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mattancherry. While in Class 12, she prepared for CLAT under the guidance of Heritage Entrance Coaching and successfully secured admission to NUALS Kochi.

From a young age, Akshaya has been driven by a desire to create social change. Witnessing domestic violence and injustice against women shaped her commitment to pursuing law.

She sees the legal profession as a path to stand up against patriarchal norms and advocate for women’s rights and justice for the marginalized Though the dream of studying at an NLU felt distant due to financial constraints, her teacher at Heritage recognized her potential and introduced her to the IDIA Scholarship program. With IDIA’s support, Akshaya is now pursuing her law degree and is deeply grateful for the opportunity.

Outside the classroom, Akshaya finds joy in doodling, pencil sketching, dancing, and writing. She also enjoys cycling and badminton. Her creativity and compassion fuel her ambition to become a powerful advocate for justice.

Akshaya’s journey reflects her determination, resilience, and the impact of timely support. With a heart full of purpose and the backing of IDIA, she is on a path to make a meaningful difference.
