Dikhita Borah

Dikhita Borah is from a small village called Hathi Gaon in North Guwahati, Assam. Dikhita and her two sisters have seen some strife in the family- their parents separated when Dikhita was a child, and her father has not been heard from since 2009. Dikhita and her sisters live with their mother, who earns around INR 5000 a month working in a private company. Her sister takes tuitions to contribute to the family’s income, the combined total of which is INR 8,000 per month.

These financial difficulties have not deterred Dikhita’s focus and motivation. She is dedicated to her goal of becoming an environment lawyer, and a voice of her community. So committed is she to this vision that she would sail across the Brahmaputra river everyday (even on rainy days!) to attend her CLAT training sessions on the opposite bank with the IDIA Assam Chapter!

Both bright and exceptionally hard working, Dikhita performed extremely well in school and CLAT 2016, where she scored 109.75 marks, gaining admission into National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam in Guwahati. Apart from studying, Dikhita enjoys dancing, sketching and reading books.
