Ramavath Swarnalatha

Swarnalatha is a resident of Peddathanda village, in the Nalgonda District of Telangana. She belongs to the Lambadi tribe. Her father is a farmer, and her mother is a homemaker. Her family of four survives on a meagre income that was just INR 60,000 annually.

Despite facing many hardships, Swarnalatha completed her schooling from the Telangana Social Welfare Residential School, Secunderabad, with an impressive G.P.A of 9.2 in Class 10 and 76.9% in Class 12.

In addition to her studies, Swarna Latha also actively participates in debates, elocutions and youth parliaments. She has won many awards at State level debate and elocution competitions.

When asked about her inspiration, Swarna Latha gives a beautiful narration: “This will seem silly I know, but my greatest inspiration is a lotus flower. A lotus starts out in really murky dirty water in terrible conditions but despite that, it grows into a beautiful flower that everyone loves and it even became the national flower of India! If a lotus can do that, so can I”. (Translated from Telugu)

A very bright and diligent trainee, Swarnalatha was trained by the IDIA Hyderabad Chapter. She was also trained by IDIA’s affiliate partner, LST. Through her hard-work and determination, Swarnalatha has secured an impressive rank in CLAT 2017, and secured admission at Gujarat National Law University! She has interned with Ramakanth Reddy, Senior Advocate in the High court of Telangana; Additional Public Prosecutor of Telangana State and Legal Advisor of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, Hyderabad. She has also been a member of the IDIA Gujarat Chapter.
