Jitendra Majhi

Jitendra Majhi hails from a tribal village called Renu in the Gajapati district of Odisha. His parents are farmers, and one of his elder sisters works as a teacher in a government school, primarily supporting the family. During summer vacations, Jitendra and his siblings work together to earn money and assist their parents.

Jitendra was fortunate to attend the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Bhubaneswar, where he received free education and other facilities. It was here that the IDIA Odisha Chapter recognized his potential and began training him for the CLAT exam. Jitendra became the first trainee from the IDIA Odisha Chapter to crack CLAT and subsequently joined National Law University Odisha. He pursued legal education to better understand society and believed that legal education is essential not only for becoming a good lawyer but also for becoming a well-informed citizen.

In Jitendra’s village and gram panchayat, there are no lawyers, and the absence of legal experts means that people from his village and nearby areas face numerous unresolved legal issues. This motivated Jitendra to become the first lawyer from his village and lead his community in the future.

Currently, Jitendra is an associate at Samar and Associates in New Delhi. His ultimate goal is to become a civil judge and deliver justice to the people. He is diligently preparing for the judiciary exam. Jitendra attributes his achievements to his hard work and the unwavering support from IDIA, his parents, teachers, elders, and friends.
