Swati Singh

Swati, an IDIA Scholar from Delhi, completed her schooling at Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya. Until Class 10, law wasn’t even a part of her plans. But everything changed when she chose humanities and was introduced to political science. For the first time, she encountered the Constitution—a moment that sparked her interest in justice and rights.

The turning point came when she saw a video of Seema Kushwaha speaking about the Nirbhaya case. Swati still remembers the marches across Delhi, the collective demand for justice, and the powerful call for change. Deeply moved, she decided in Class 11 that she wanted to pursue law, particularly to work for women’s rights. But financial constraints cast doubt over her dream, as she struggled with the idea of affording NLU fees.

It was during a POCSO awareness event at her school that her path shifted. Law students who came to interact with the students listened to her story and connected her with IDIA.

That introduction became a life-changing moment. IDIA not only mentored and guided her through academics but also provided emotional support at every step of the journey.

Through challenges, Swati found solace in poetry, which became her way of releasing anxiety and grounding herself.

Today, she is determined to dedicate her legal career to women’s empowerment. For her, it is not just a professional goal but a personal commitment. She says, “IDIA didn’t just help me reach law, they helped me believe in the power of impact.”
