Amit Kumar Sharma is an advocate from Gangtok, Sikkim, currently practising at the High Court of Sikkim. He completed his B.A. LL.B from Sikkim Government Law College, Burtuk, graduating in 2024. He comes from a modest family with a business background, and his upbringing shaped his discipline, work ethic, and grounded approach to the profession.
His interest in law began during his higher secondary years at Modern Senior Secondary School, Gangtok, where he first started noticing how legal rights and processes affect everyday life. This early exposure inspired him to pursue law and work towards making legal systems more accessible and understandable for ordinary citizens.
During law school, he developed a deeper interest in how the legal system operates in practice. Classroom learning, internships, and interactions with the profession helped shape his understanding and strengthened his commitment to pursuing litigation.
His academic and personal journey included challenges that demanded resilience, discipline, and patience. These experiences have shaped his belief in using law as a tool for meaningful social impact and strengthened his commitment to public-oriented legal work.
Through the fellowship, Amit hopes to further improve his advocacy, research, and client engagement skills, while contributing to work that expands access to justice, supports local communities, and improves legal awareness. His long-term vision is to continue working in areas where the law can create direct positive change and empower individuals who often cannot access legal support.
