Advocate Akhil Soman is a first generation lawyer based in Ernakulam, Kerala, currently practicing under Advocate Sadhanakumari. Coming from a modest background and raised alongside his sister, he completed his schooling across various government institutions in the district. He went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indira Gandhi National Open University, followed by an LL.B. from Government Law College, Ernakulam.
Alongside his academic journey, he developed a strong commitment to access to justice. He served as a Para Legal Volunteer with the Kerala State Legal Services Authority, where he contributed to legal awareness and assistance initiatives for the public.
With over six years of experience in anti human trafficking work, Akhil is a founding member of the Anti Human Trafficking Club in Kerala. This initiative stands out as a student led platform working closely with the State Police and the State Legal Services Authority. Through his involvement, he has actively participated in on ground interventions alongside law enforcement agencies. His work has included identifying trafficking cases, assisting in rescue operations, and ensuring that survivors receive proper legal aid and rehabilitation support.
His engagement extends across a wide network of institutions including Child Welfare Committees, the Social Justice Department, Railway Protection Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Labour Department, Childline services, media organisations, and various NGOs across India. He has also participated in several national and international conferences and training programmes on anti human trafficking, including those conducted in collaboration with the U.S. Consulate in Kolkata, UNODC, and the Government of India.
Currently, Advocate Akhil Soman focuses on litigation, appearing before the High Court of Kerala, trial courts, and various tribunals. At the same time, he continues to strengthen collaborative networks and awareness efforts aimed at combating human trafficking and supporting vulnerable communities.
