Devithadas is a first-generation lawyer from Palakkad, Kerala, committed to strengthening access to justice through trial court practice. She completed her BBA LL.B. (Hons.) with an initial interest in corporate work and had secured a job offer as a marketing team leader at a start-up. Her path changed during a final-year internship with the Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC) system, where working on live criminal matters exposed her to the challenges faced by vulnerable communities. That experience cemented her decision to pursue litigation.
Coming from a financially modest background and raised by a single mother, entering litigation required persistence and sacrifice. In the early stages of her career, she worked without pay, took part-time jobs, and accepted every possible opportunity—from drafting and translation to clerical support—to continue practising law. These experiences shaped her outlook and taught her the patience, discipline, and resilience required to grow in the profession.
She has also worked as a public speaking expert at an international platform during her studies, strengthening her communication and advocacy skills. Through the fellowship, she aims to build a strong foundation in criminal litigation, develop her courtroom skills, and learn under experienced mentors.
Her long-term aspiration is to serve as a judicial officer who approaches the law with empathy, fairness, and a deep commitment to ensuring that justice remains accessible and dignified for everyone
