Palzor Sherpa is an advocate and a graduate of Sikkim Government Law College, Burtuk. His interest in the legal profession began while he was in Class 12, inspired by his uncle, whose dedication and commitment to law made a lasting impression and motivated him to pursue the field.
His journey into law came with challenges. Choosing the profession itself was a significant decision, and the early stages of understanding legal terminology, courtroom processes, and procedure required time and persistence. One of the most difficult experiences in his initial practice was appearing before a judge, which over time helped him develop confidence and presence in the courtroom.
Through the fellowship, Palzor hopes to contribute to expanding access to justice and supporting communities that lack legal awareness or representation. He is particularly interested in working with individuals from marginalized backgrounds who may not be aware of their rights or available protections.
He sees the fellowship as an opportunity to deepen his understanding of public policy, legal research, and community engagement. He aims to strengthen his analysis and litigation skills while learning from mentors and peers working toward similar goals.
His long-term vision is to carry forward the values of accessibility, equity, and service into his legal career, contributing to meaningful social change and ensuring that the law remains within reach of those who need it most.
