We don’t hand out a cheque and hope. We stay for a decade.

Four stages, run largely by 1000+ law-student volunteers who travel to the schools themselves.

Outreach

1

Under Law for All, volunteers visit government schools across the country and show students that law is a career that exists and is open to them.

Fund by donating ₹1,000-5,000

Why this is hard

The bottleneck isn’t ability. It’s the price of the door.

India’s National Law Universities produce the lawyers who end up arguing in its highest courts. Almost none of their students come from the communities most likely to need one.

₹5L

What a single year at an NLU costs once tuition, hostel, books and internship travel are counted

₹4,000

The CLAT application fee alone. For a family living on daily wages, this is where the ambition usually stops — before a single class has been attended.

2 years

How long serious CLAT preparation takes. Coaching at that level is priced for cities and for parents who can pay upfront.

What it adds up to

The proof is in who is now in the room.

Rank 1, and 18 gold medals

At NLSIU Bengaluru’s 2020 convocation, an IDIA Scholar graduated first in the class and took home eighteen gold medals — from a background that, statistically, should never have put them in that hall.

Publicly reported

India’s first judge with a visual impairment

IDIA’s Disability Access Programme and its policy work helped open the judiciary to candidates with visual impairments — a change that outlives any one scholarship.

Other ways to give

Not every contribution arrives as a one-off donation.

Give monthly
A standing amount each month is what lets IDIA promise a Scholar five years of support rather than one.
Name a scholarship
Fund a Scholar’s entire degree in your name, your family’s, or in someone’s memory, with annual reporting on their progress.
Sponsor a state chapter
Underwrite a year of Law for All outreach in one state — the travel, materials and testing behind every school visit.
Corporate & CSR
IDIA works with firms and corporates on CSR-eligible programmes, internships and hiring pipelines for Scholars.
Give in kind
Fee waivers, internships, laptops, and assistive hardware and software for Scholars with disabilities are as useful as cash.
Give your time
Mentor a Scholar for a few hours a month — professional guidance, mock interviews, and the network they don’t inherit.

Questions

Before you give

Donations to IDIA Charitable Trust qualify for a deduction of 50% of the donated amount under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. If you donate ₹10,000, ₹5,000 comes off your taxable income

Since the 2021 rules, charities must report every donation to the Income Tax Department against the donor’s PAN. Without it we cannot file that statement, cannot issue your Form 10BE certificate, and you cannot claim the deduction.

An acknowledgement is emailed as soon as the payment settles. The Form 10BE certificate covering all your donations in a financial year is issued by 30th june of the following year.

Yes. If you hold an Indian passport and are donating from an NRE/NRO account, you can use the domestic route and claim 80G against Indian taxable income if you have any.

If you are a foreign national or donating in foreign currency, the contribution must go through IDIA’s designated SBI FCRA account or via DanaMojo, as required by the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act. Section 80G relief does not apply to foreign taxpayers.

Any time, with no notice period and no questions. Email accounts@idialaw.org and the mandate is cancelled or amended from the next cycle.
